Exploring OUR world from a Sea Kayak

SeeSteveSeaKayak is an adventure vlog focused on journeying to beautiful places and discovering stunning coastal gems. Topics covered include kayaking skills and techniques, kayak camping, rock gardening, kayak gear, and general outdoor adventures.

The ocean is a source of rejuvenation and awe for me. I love the sense of wonder and discovery that I’m able to satisfy by exploring the coast from the unique perspective of a sea kayak. I’m also intensely focused on my growth. I’ve found that the lessons I learn in the sea kayak filter into my life, and vise versa. I want to share all of that with you! Join me on the water and let’s satisfy our need for adventure and figure out what’s going on in our lives.

HELLO!

I started sea kayaking 25 years ago in college when a co-worker at an outdoor equipment shop convinced me to buy a sea kayak; “It will be awesome, we can go on overnight camping trips and see cool stuff.” “Sure!” I said and willfully dropped what probably should have been rent money for a sea kayak. We spent the next 2 years paddling along the coast of Massachusetts and on the lakes and rivers in the Western part of the state. Then, life changed, and I found myself in Colorado. Sea kayaking fell off my radar for other adventures in the Rocky Mountains.

Life changed again when my partner and I decided to move back to New England, Maine, to be exact. Once back, the ocean began calling me again. I found quality used sea kayaks and outfitted my partner and I. It was amazing being back on the water!

Reflecting back on what I did or how I approached paddling makes me feel like I got lucky. Determined to approach the activity with more wisdom, I found a great coach (I’m looking at you, Nate, at Pinniped Kayak) and started my journey again. I jumped back in and worked hard on building my skills, acquiring my ACA L3 Sea Kayak Instructor certification, and continued to grow my skills and experience year after year.

With a solid community of dedicated paddlers and a never-ending love for bobbing on the ocean, I spend every chance I can get on the water!

I’m excited to share what I’m exploring and discovering with you, and I hope you’ll join me and become part of the adventure.
